Civil Engineer Ipswich £37,000 to £44,000k + Benefits I am working with a leading civil and structural engineering consultancy that offers structural, civil, geotechnical, environmental and transportation engineering design services, throughout the UK and overseas. They have a vacancy for a Civil Engineer to assist with the preparation and delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure designs in their busy Ipswich office. The successful candidate will work under the direction of a Civil Engineering Associate or Principal Engineer and will be responsible for producing and managing information for their clients and co-professional design team. Role • Collaborate with a team and report to senior engineers on Civil Engineering and Infrastructure projects across residential, retail, commercial, and industrial sectors. • Design surface water drainage using SuDS principles in cooperation with team members. • Design foul water drainage, considering pumping stations, treatment plants, and nutrient neutrality solutions. • Develop level strategies for cut and fill optimisation and spatial planning. • Create external works packages in collaboration with Urban Designers, including long sections, cross sections, and pavement design. • Coordinate design with internal teams, including geotechnical, structural, and transport planning teams. • Develop flood risk and surface water strategies, preparing related assessments, plans, and reports for planning applications. • Liaise with external parties, manage subcontractors for surveys and flood modelling, and conduct site visits and risk assessments. Key Skills • Proficient in AutoCAD, with experience in Civil 3D and InfoDrainage. • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and guidance, including Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Design Construction Guidance for sewers. • Creative and innovative in designing civil engineering solutions for highways and drainage, adhering to relevant Codes of Practice. • Excellent communication skills, capable of giving presentations to clients and co-professionals. • Commercially aware, understanding professional risks and compliance with appointments, warranties, and insurances. Education • Accredited BEng or MEng Civil Engineering Degree.
