Role: Chartered Civil Engineer (Hybrid working)
I'm working with a design-led civil engineering consultancy that's rethinking how infrastructure gets delivered in the UK.
They're not your run-of-the-mill firm - this is a collaborative, values-driven team passionate about making places healthier, greener and more connected.
From town centre upgrades to flood-resilient neighbourhoods and active travel infrastructure - their work is meaningful, sustainable, and community-focused.
They're now looking for a Chartered Civil Engineer for their Leicester office.
This is a great opportunity for someone technically strong who still enjoys being hands-on, but is also ready to step up into a visible project-facing role-supporting junior engineers, leading technical delivery and helping guide the direction of the team alongside senior leaders.
The Opportunity
- Be the technical lead on civil engineering design across a diverse project portfolio-spanning infrastructure, regeneration, drainage, highways and utilities.
- Collaborate with landscape architects, urban designers and environmental specialists on projects that create lasting impact.
- Oversee design quality, support project delivery, and act as a key point of contact for clients and design partners.
- Support and mentor junior team members-playing a part in developing technical skills and encouraging best practice (without full line management).
- Get involved in early design thinking, stakeholder discussions and shaping proposals that improve real-world outcomes.
- What They're Looking For
- A Chartered Civil Engineer (ICE / CIWEM / CIHT / IStruct E or equivalent).
- Proven technical experience across civil infrastructure design, including roads, Su DS, utilities and earthworks.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D, Micro Drainage / Causeway Flow, Auto CAD and similar design tools.
- Great communication skills - confident working with multidisciplinary teams, clients and external consultants.
- Some experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers (formal management not essential).
- Someone who takes pride in delivering work that's technically sound, environmentally responsible and socially valuable.
- Why This Role Stands Out
- Join a close-knit team where your ideas are heard and your work genuinely makes a difference.
- Get the best of both worlds - strong technical delivery and a purpose-driven environment that prioritises design quality and climate-conscious outcomes.
- Hybrid working, great work-life balance, and a collaborative team that shares knowledge and celebrates good design.
- A clear progression path, with the chance to grow into more formal leadership as the team continues to expand.
