We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established private planning consultancy in Bedford, who are looking to appoint a Town Planner with a minimum of 2 years’ experience to join their growing team. This role is ideal for a planner who has gained strong technical experience and client exposure and is now looking to progress their career within a commercially focused consultancy environment.
The Role
You will work on a varied portfolio of projects across the residential, commercial and mixed-use sectors, supporting clients from early-stage site appraisals through to planning determination. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and managing planning applications and pre-application submissions
- Providing planning advice to private sector clients and developers
- Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants and stakeholders
- Assisting with appeals, planning statements and development strategies
- Supporting senior planners on larger and more complex projects
Candidate Requirements
- At least 2 years’ experience in UK town planning within a consultancy or local authority
- Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline
- Working towards MRTPI or already chartered
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and policy framework
- Confident communicator with good report-writing skills
- Organised, commercially aware and proactive
