Zodiac Maritime have embarked on a digital transformation programme which touches most parts of the business. We are looking for a maritime graduate, or someone with equivalent experience to take on the challenge of becoming a Business Systems Owner. Based five days a week at our office in central London, this position will provide the opportunity to learn how to support the effective implementation, adoption and ongoing maintenance and improvement of new systems and processes into business operational areas.

Situated within a business area, this multifaceted role is part process owner, part system owner/super user, part data owner and you will be passionate about enhancing business outcomes through improving process, technology & data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business system ownership
    • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the systems used by the business area and use that knowledge to improve business performance.
    • Support maintenance and administration of the system updating configuration and workflows to improve business processes and user experience.
    • Training staff to get the most out of the systems and provide first line support to users in the business area.
    • Liaising with colleagues to understand business requirements and working with them, the Transformation Team and technology providers to implement changes and/or new technology successfully.
    • Contributing to the management of relationships with software providers to ensure optimal service.
    • Review product upgrades and determine whether/how new functionality could be implemented to improve business performance and outcomes.
    • Researching and recommending future technology to enhance business operations.
  • Process ownership
    • Evaluate existing business processes, ensuring shared understanding of how the business area functions and creating the baseline for evaluating future changes.
    • Update department policies and procedures as required by any changes in systems and their associated processes, or as required by updated business requirements.
    • Implementing and monitoring metrics for the business area that demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of processes.
    • Working cross functionally with other Process Owners to ensure end to end processes join up and work effectively.
  • Data ownership
    • With accountability for the day-to-day management of data in your business area, you will become the Subject Matter Expert who understands and communicates the meaning and use of information within your data domain.
    • Input, from your SME perspective, into decisions about business term definitions, data quality, accessibility and retention requirements as they tie to the business needs.
    • Ensure that the data in your business area is of high quality and is fit for use, taking the lead on resolving data issues.
    • Work with the Transformation Team to ensure project deliverables are properly specified and accurately delivered. This would include data cleansing and data migration activities.
Skills Profile
  • A maritime related degree, or equivalent experience.
  • The ability to learn a complex business area – it’s purpose, objectives and processes.
  • You will not just be open to the idea of change; you are somebody who is constantly looking to innovate as a means to drive greater commercial outcomes.
  • You will have a thirst for understanding and the ability to quickly absorb the functionality available in the technologies in your area.
  • Experience in, or the ability to learn, updating and maintaining system configuration, workflows and users.
  • Experience in, or the ability to learn, mapping processes and understanding how data is used across those processes.
  • A desire to learn how to train and support users on how to get the most out of the technologies in their area.
  • You will be a passionate advocate of data quality, and tenacious in seeking to maintain and improve the data that your area requires.
  • You will be detail conscious and analytical.
  • Certifications in areas such as business analysis, process improvement, data quality management, or in the specific technologies being used may be advantageous.
