Portfolio Manager, Energy Transition - Private Credit & Venture Debt

Job Description

We’re recruiting for a Portfolio Manager – Associate Director, with a client in the Private Credit/Venture Debt space, covering Impact Investing across Energy Transition, Fintech , and Venture Lending.

Salary wise, base salary is c. £100,000 + competitive bonus .

The firm sits at the intersection of Tech/AI & Private Capital/Lending – they have a Proprietary Platform that’s generated substantial Institutional interest , dubbed the future of how lending operates.

The position sits within the risk function (reporting into the MD of Risk/acting CRO ) but offers much broader exposure beyond traditional corporate credit. While credit analysis is a key component, the team is looking for someone with a strong corporate finance perspective (someone who understands balance sheets, cash flow, and financial structuring at the company level, not just from a portfolio monitoring standpoint).

Founded in 2014, they’ve scaled quickly in the past few years to c. £400m AUM – on track to hit £1bn AUM in 2-3 years. They’ve raised four funds, all oversubscribed – traditionally Impact Investing across Energy Transition, Fintech, and Venture Debt. They’re launching a new Decarbonation Fund – their largest to date and are looking to hire someone to support its deployment.

The role will manage a portfolio of the fund’s clients, with responsibilities spanning commercial decision-making/portfolio recommendations (with respect to lending facilities), loan/portfolio monitoring, dealing with borrowers, and restructuring where necessary. It’s very client-oriented, and whilst not strictly origination-focused, the role could progress into this area if you wanted, and you’ll be given scope to develop on either side of the business, depending on your preference.
