Part-Time Head of Finance | Film Production SME | London/Hybrid
The Client
Harmonic is excited to be working on a retained basis with a rapidly scaling TV and Film production business. Our client finances, develops, and produces impressive projects, all with the aim to tell exciting stories in a multifaceted, compelling way. Previous projects our client has developed and contributed to have sold to major studios and distributors, performing well in the Cannes market.
With 10 dedicated creatives and media professionals in the business, you’d be joining a tight-knit team and lead the development of their finance function.
With multiple projects upcoming and an exciting plan for growth they’re looking to implement, you’d be joining the team during an incredibly exciting time.
The Role
As Head of Finance, you’ll be integral to supporting with strengthening the businesses financial processes and workflows as they scale. You’d be working alongside one bookkeeper and business partnering closely with the CEO and other Board members.
This is very much an all-around role, and ideal for someone who can think commercially and strategically but isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty. In addition to supporting with compliance, implementing monthly management accounts, and the audit process, you’d be tasked with developing cashflow forecasts, analysing and reporting on project profitability, and lending key insight into decision making.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in an SME environment, ideally within a creative/media business. This is a great opportunity to help scale an exciting business and see the true value you’d add to the team, so someone who isn’t afraid to tackle operational and commercial finance in pursuit of growth is key.
In the future, the intention is for this Head of Finance to develop into a Finance Director for the business. You have the opportunity to really make this role your own.
This is a part-time role, with 2-3 working days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Provide commercial and strategic financial guidance to the CEO and SMT to drive the business’ growth
- Develop cashflow forecasts and analyse and report on project profitability
- Tracking and reporting on budgets to support decision making
- Create financial models to support accurate tracking of company/project performance
- Manage funding applications
- Implement systems and processes to ensure efficiency and compliance (including management accounts)
- Ensure compliance across HMRC audits and VAT regulations
- Oversee financial operations with the support of a bookkeeper
- Ad hoc tasks to support the wider team/business
What we need to see (required):
- Previous experience in film production, the creative industries (music/entertainment/marketing/advertising/media) or project-based industries
- Knowledge of UK VAT and/or UK film tax rebates
Salary: £65,000-£80,000 (pro rata)
Location: Central London
Part-Time: 2-3 days/week
Hybrid Pattern: 1-2 days in-office per week
