Job Description
Job Title: Electrical & Mechanical Technician
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Role Overview
Responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of production equipment, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair. The role involves both proactive and reactive maintenance, as well as assisting with new installations and upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on electrical and mechanical systems.
- Conduct planned and reactive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Support the installation, calibration, and commissioning of production equipment.
- Provide technical assistance to site teams as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.
- Follow all relevant safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Assist in training and supporting production staff with technical guidance.
- Ensure work areas remain clean and organized.
- Liaise with external contractors and service providers as required.
- Use IT systems for reporting and data management in line with company policies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Recognized apprenticeship or equivalent training in mechanical/electrical engineering.
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH and 18th Edition electrical standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Experience with pneumatics and basic fabrication skills is beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
