Job Description

Our client, a market leading manufacturer near Leeds, seeks to appoint a Manufacturing Engineer who will work closely with the manufacturing teams as they produce a range of bespoke products. This role will lead and support a range of new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing improvement projects, for both assembly and machining operations. As Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in continuous improvement activities which will include in-housing certain processes, some automation, and design of jigs, fixtures, and tooling (3D CAD skills needed).

Manufacturing Engineer – Role and Responsibilities

  1. Address root causes of inefficiencies.
  2. Work with quality department and understand 4D/8D/Root Cause Analysis.
  3. Implement CAPA.
  4. Work with test department to maintain test equipment.
  5. Increase OEE and reduce machine downtime.
  6. Work with maintenance and advise on TPM/PPM.
  7. Make improvements to processes and production techniques.
  8. Work with production to increase manufacturing efficiency.
  9. Design of jigs, fixtures, and tooling.

Manufacturing Engineer – Skills and Abilities

  1. Basic experience of production engineering: layout, continuous flow, SMED, CAPEX, planning, capacity modelling/simulation, costing.
  2. Some lean manufacturing and continuous improvement knowledge.
  3. HND/Degree qualified in Production or Manufacturing Engineering.
  4. Knowledge of low volume bespoke manufacturing.
  5. Experience using a 3D CAD system.
