Job Description
We are seeking a NEBOSH qualified Health and Safety Manager with 5+ years experience within FMCG, working along with the Senior team at our bakery in Wigston, Leicestershire.
Key Tasks include:
- To ensure the site’s compliance with all aspects of the Company H&S Policy and associated procedures in the UK and within the group requirements and provide advice, guidance, support to the team; providing coaching and training as necessary.
- To develop, implement and monitor the Health & Safety policy.
- To support the environmental plan and environment Manager.
- To promote Health & Safety awareness and ensure all Health & Safety functions are completed.
- To ensure risk assessments and SSOW, Lotto, RAMS contractors’ control are in place and are reviewed regularly.
- To prepare Health & Safety statistical performance reports (KPI’s) and drive improvement in the H&S key performance indicators.
- To instigate action plans following incidents, accidents, near misses or changes in legislation.
- To receive and record accident and near miss data, ensuring robust root cause investigation and corrective & preventative action planning and assist Managers in the investigation of accidents.
- Facilitate and lead the site’s H&S Committee.
- To manage the safety observation program and carry out frequent Health & Safety audits (CATS).
- To ensure the provision of clear and relevant Health & Safety information.
- To lead in conjunction with line management, initiatives designed to improve commitment at all levels to continuously improve standards of HSE to benefit site performance.
- Identify opportunities to drive improvement in Group H&S processes with the site leadership team, support the continued improvement in employee engagement.
- Work with the site’s HR Manager, ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Work with the site’s Trainer, ensure all employees and agency workers receive the required HS&E training.
- To work with the group HS&E/ engineering to deliver capital and other project initiatives ensuring projects’ compliance with regulations.
- To provide analysis and reporting to allow for accurate and efficient annual budgeting.
- Responsibility for site safety/security implementation (CCTV, fob access etc.).
- To liaise with the HSE and Environment Agency and other enforcement agencies on all matters.
- Responsible for managing the fire control systems/fire ammonia safety.
- To form part of the site ‘food defence’ team and crisis management team.
- To oversee First Aid provision.
- Be an active member of the site’s crisis management team.
- Monitor insurance inspections and ensure compliance is maintained.
- To ensure statutory dust and noise level exposures are regularly recorded and actions taken.
- Be the site’s primary liaison with Health & Safety Executive, NHS, Fire & Rescue Services and other regulatory bodies and providers in relation to health, safety incidents.
- Contribute to the Group H&S Committee, including the provision of relevant reports/data to support the H&S process.
- Participate in the group cross audit process so will be required to travel internationally and in the UK.
