Job Description
The Opportunity:
My client is a renewable energy company looking for a Grid Project Manager on a permanent basis.
In this role, the successful Grid Manager will be responsible for the development of grid connections for renewable assets including solar PV and wind turbines.
You will also be in charge of planning and implementing functions and deliverables for connections from inception to connection.
Finally, you will also be required to oversee compliance and policies as well as liaising with the DNOs.
Skills and Experience:
- Manage the grid connection process from initial feasibility through to energisation
- Help develop and improve early stage project cost estimates for electrical/grid elements
- Regular engagement with DNOs, TOs, NESO, and ICPs/IDNOs
- Provide technical input to grid applications
- Critically review connection offers, identifying risks and opportunities for acceleration and cost reduction
- Monitor policy and regulatory changes and report internally
- Manage grid compliance process from cradle to grave
- Work with OEMs to develop robust and cost-effective testing and compliance regimes for new sites, providing technical input during contract negotiations
- In-depth understanding of the UK’s distribution and transmission networks and regulatory environment
- Proven experience in the delivery of grid connections for power projects
- Knowledge of power modelling and grid compliance testing processes
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to produce cost estimations to aid decision making
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- AutoCAD proficiency
