Job Description

FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER (ENTRY LEVEL) Our client is a global diagnostic company and is looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and customer-focused Field Service Engineers to join our Technical Service team. This is an entry-level, full-time, permanent role, perfect for recent graduates or individuals eager to begin their engineering careers. The position is available for candidates based in the South (M40 corridor, between London and Birmingham).

Your Mission

As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting customers by providing technical assistance and troubleshooting.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Resolving first or second-level customer inquiries related to the company diagnostic solution.
  2. Assisting with troubleshooting and escalating complex issues to senior engineers.
  3. Managing Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes with customers and partners.
  4. Engaging with customers regularly to understand their challenges and offer solutions.
  5. Ensuring quick and effective resolutions to customer needs, aiming for first-time resolution.
  6. Collaborating with internal teams to identify and implement solutions.
  7. Supporting senior engineers in high-pressure problem-solving situations.
  8. Contributing to risk analysis and investigations during customer complaint processes.
  9. Working with customers directly to solve technical problems, troubleshooting, repairs on machines, and helping with technical software issues from home/site as needed.
  10. Providing technical applications training to hospital staff/customers as well as internal employees.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. HND, HNC, degree, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Electronics, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  2. No prior experience required—recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  3. Any experience in customer service, technical support, or engineering is a plus.
  4. A keen interest in technology and science with the desire to learn new skills in a dynamic environment.
  5. Technically minded with an interest in using computer software and information systems.

Your Competencies

  1. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with customers in a professional, positive manner.
  2. A logical, analytical approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  3. Basic knowledge of IT, networking, and security concepts.
  4. Experience or certification in regulatory environments such as GMP and ISO13485 is desirable.
  5. Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally as needed, as well as access to your own vehicle for nationwide travel.
