Job Description

Facilities Engineer – Quality

Location: Portsmouth

Duration: Contract – 9 months

Work Arrangement: 100% onsite

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Rate: PAYE £30.23ph / Umbrella £40ph

Travel: Frequent travel to Stevenage required

Subject to BPSS+ clearance. Candidates must have settled status or be a British passport holder.

A world leading aviation manufacturer is looking for a Facilities Engineer – Quality on a contract basis. They will be responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and ensuring compliance across facility construction and renovation projects, demonstrating good knowledge of maintenance and building regulations.

The role involves technical oversight, design reviews, asset management, and quality assurance to support successful project execution.

Must haves:

  1. Knowledge of Building regulations
  2. Understanding of maintenance installation
  3. Mix of Facilities Engineer and Project Manager experience
  4. Previous knowledge of tools
  5. Experience in both industrial and office settings
  6. Asset Management experience
  7. Ability to read drawings

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Monitoring & Technical Support: Inspect construction activities to ensure alignment with project milestones and provide technical expertise during all construction phases.
  • Design Reviews & Compliance: Support specification development and feasibility studies, ensuring compliance with sustainability and regulatory requirements. Attend and contribute to design reviews (Preliminary, Critical, and Final) to assess mechanical, electrical, and building fabric requirements, ensuring local standards are integrated into project designs.
  • Asset Management & Quality Assurance: Evaluate the removal and installation of assets, ensuring suitability for site requirements. Liaise with Asset Management and Technical Facilities teams to verify accessibility, serviceability, and functionality. Conduct quality assurance (QA) audits to confirm that installations meet design specifications and oversee commissioning and testing to ensure assets function as intended.
  • Project Coordination & Documentation: Work with design teams, contractors, and project managers to ensure As-Built drawings are maintained and updated. Ensure Health & Safety documentation is compiled and reviewed throughout the project lifecycle. Provide guidance on compliance-related issues and help resolve technical challenges.
