Data Centre Operations Engineer

Job Description

Alexander Ash is seeking a Data Centre Operations Engineer to join a global infrastructure team at a top financial services client in London. You will work alongside a team of data centre engineers, handling the physical build and operational aspects of data centres and co-location estates. These data centres support the firm’s research and play a critical role in delivering infrastructure services that provide high-performance computing and data platforms.

You will be accountable for the physical work and logistical aspects of data centre build-outs, collaborating closely with several global third-party providers. You will ensure that implementations meet the highest operational and security standards. The role will involve both BAU maintenance and new project work.

Your present skillset:

• Demonstrated knowledge of complex data centre architectures at scale, including operational telemetry, capacity management, executing maintenance and upgrades, and monitoring operational performance.
• A strong commitment to building physical infrastructure to clear, maintainable standards.
• Excellent documentation skills, ensuring that data centre builds and designs are fully documented.
• Good knowledge of delivering complex, high-performance data centres and associated infrastructures supporting Compute, Network, and Storage architectures at hyper-scale levels.
• Familiarity with the data centre and financial markets exchange co-location vendor ecosystems, and experience working with third parties to execute change successfully.
• A desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
