Data Architect
Fareham (Hybrid working + occasional travel to London)
Up to £750 per day (inside IR35)
Job Summary:
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of a Point of Sale (POS) integration project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data architecture, database management, and system integration. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop the data architecture for the POS integration project, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into effective data models.
- Lead the integration of POS systems with existing databases and data warehouses, ensuring seamless data flow and consistency.
- Develop and maintain data standards, policies, and procedures to ensure data quality and security throughout the project life cycle.
- Educate retail service desk teams re: procedures to ensure data quality and security, allowing them to troubleshoot effectively when required.
- Optimize database performance and troubleshoot any issues related to data integration and processing.
- Provide technical guidance to other team members where required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Data Architect, preferably within the Retail or Consumer Packaged Goods industry.
- Strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling techniques.
- Experience with POS systems and their integration with backend databases.
- Proficiency in data integration tools and technologies (e.g., ETL processes, APIs).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of data security and privacy regulations is a plus.
