Job Description
CK Group are recruiting for an Associate Scientist, on behalf of a growing biotech company, a junior lab based role, focused on supporting the wider R&D team. This role will be based at their site in Canary Wharf, on a permanent basis.
The Role:
The Associate Scientist will work closely with the other members of the R&D team, to perform cell culture of primary and transformed cell lines, and develop and run cell-based assays to support the R&D workflow. This includes performing established SOPs to support screening of novel hits using biologics i.e. monoclonal antibodies and bispecifics, as well as developing complex assays using primary immune cells, to support the translation and determine the mechanisms of action of therapeutic antibodies and their effects on the function of innate and adaptive immune cells in healthy and disease settings.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the smooth running of the laboratory by performing cell culture, banking cell lines and isolation of primary immune cells from whole blood.
- Support development of complex co-culture assays, to explore functional and phenotypic responses of novel therapeutic antibodies.
- Contribute to building work packages, to support agreed timelines and objectives by performing and analysing in vitro assays.
- Support complex scientific research of R&D team, by generating data and presenting to the wider team on a regular basis.
- Proactively support delivery from the whole R&D team, and actively contribute to the smooth running of the laboratory.
Your Background:
- BSc/MSc in relevant biological discipline (e.g. immunology, cell biology), with at least one year lab experience (academic or industry).
- Experience working in a company setting, (biotech or pharma).
- Previous experience performing cell culture, including isolating, culturing and working with primary cells.
- Commitment to high-quality research standards, with attention to detail and data integrity and excellent record keeping.
- Previous experience of flow cytometry and cell based functional assays.
- Understanding of oncology is a plus.
- Willing to comply with high Health and Safety standards, and Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
