Responsible for providing senior level management of commercial real estate environmental due diligence projects, conduct and manage multi-site portfolios, develop client relationships, and write and review environmental due diligence reports including but not limited to Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Transaction Screen Assessments, Phase II Subsurface Investigations, and other similar reports. Expected to identify and provide a range of creative solutions for clients related to commercial real estate transactions and redevelopment. This includes effectively prioritizing and delegating work to achieve client’s goals, managing personnel as needed, driving project momentum with Project Managers and Technical Support Teams, identifying and working with Principals on process improvement, and focusing on new opportunities. The expectation is to serve as a “trusted advisor” for clients while providing high-level strategy and technical direction.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Verify proper administration of all projects, signature authority on proposals, reports, and invoices
- Serve as the direct supervisor of assigned personnel
- Mentor and train Staff personnel and Project Managers in activities required to successfully complete projects
- Provide senior level review on environmental due diligence reports and related deliverables, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Oversee project management teams that are conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Transaction Screen Assessments, Phase II Subsurface Investigations, and other similar reports
- Drive project momentum with Project Managers and Technical staff and ensure project deadlines
- Work with resources to modify or negotiate alternative administrative solutions for clients (rates, contracts, payment strategy, etc.)
- Coordinate and manage due diligence projects involving multi-site portfolios in support of financial and industrial mergers, divestitures, and acquisitions
- Develop, track, and document project expectations and budgets
- Lead technical client and regulatory calls/meetings
- Provide clear and concise findings, recommendations, and options to clients
- Understand client objectives and expectations, and environmental risk tolerance
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, identify and develop new opportunities, and prepare technical proposals
- Develop and implement onboarding/training plan of new employees
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Effectively communicate to client and stakeholders
- High-level strategy and technical direction on due diligence projects
- Extensive knowledge of Environmental Due Diligence (Phase I Environmental Site Assessment and Phase II Subsurface Investigations)
- Knowledge of waste regulations and regulatory cleanup programs and guidance
- Ability to document and organize information while working on multiple projects
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education: B.S. in environmental science, geology, or related field
- Recommended Experience: 7 - 9+ years of extensive experience in the environmental consulting industry, with a focus on due diligence assessments, project management, and client relationship development
- Certifications: Meet qualifications of an Environmental Professional as set forth in 40 C.F.R. § 312.10(b)
- Skills: Strong computer and verbal/written communication skills
- Additional requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and capable of operating vehicles safely
80% or more office (controlled environment), up to 20% field/site visit travel (environmental job hazards).
