Exciting new opportunity to join a top Global Trading company who are looking for a Risk Controller – Oil. The company is expanding and offers good career prospects and remuneration. The role will be based in their London Office. You would be part of a Risk Team reporting to the Head of Risk.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the preparation and production of the daily P/L reporting process for all supply and trading activities: Running an unofficial and an official ETRM system batch as basis for risk reporting. Problem resolution in case of batch errors. Control of all open positions for their completeness and correctness. Close liaison with Trading, Short Term Optimization, Operations and Back Office to ensure trades are captured accurately and timely.
  • Creation of detailed MtM report, with analysis of major day changes and risk limit monitoring, with escalation to management and trading in case of limit breaches.
  • Responsible for the daily maintenance of the ETRM System: Control and verification of settlement prices and forward curves. Definition of new price curves for P/L and MtM valuations.
  • Influencing the ETRM agenda to ensure all Risk Control system needs are met.
  • Responsible for Value at Risk (VaR) monitoring: VaR report and risk limit monitoring, with escalation to management and trading in case of limit breaches.
  • Responsible for Credit Risk monitoring: Credit risk report including MtM exposure and PFE (Potential Future Exposure). Control of credit risk positions based on MtM values, with escalation to management and trading in case of limit breaches.
  • Support the business: Provide ad-hoc expert detailed commercial analysis of positions and P/L if requested by management or trading. Assist Accounting and Finance in connection with month-end and year-end closing procedures. Ad-hoc participation in projects and incorporation of new trading activities into risk reporting. Liaising with external and internal audit on Risk Control matters. Support the implementation of process and system improvements to streamline risk control of trading activities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: University degree
  • Subject of education: technical or business
  • Relevant professional experience
  • Very good knowledge of trading instruments.
  • Very good theoretical and practical knowledge and application of risk measures.
  • Experience from oil industry, for physical oil, refined products and derivatives.
  • Good knowledge of operational side of trading in order to understand different positions.
  • Good knowledge and experience with ETRM systems and MS Excel.
  • Affinity to numbers.
  • Ability to work independently under stress and to meet deadlines.
  • Exhibits commercial awareness.
  • Global, innovative thinker with the learning agility and curiosity for understanding issues.
  • Attention to detail and analysis skills.
