Job Description
Reservoir Engineer
This role sits within the Prax Upstream business unit
Location: Aberdeen
Reporting to: Head of Subsurface
About the role:
Prax Upstream is growing and we are looking for an experienced Reservoir Engineer to join our subsurface team to support our portfolio of UK operated and non-operated exploration and production assets, and business development activities. You will be joining Prax Upstream at an exciting time and this will be an integral role in the subsurface team. You will be adept at working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment across a wide range of assets.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
- Interpret reservoir engineering data including PVT, fluid, well test, pressure and production data
- Build, maintain and history match simulations models working collaboratively with the subsurface team to ensure successful outcomes of static and dynamic modelling projects
- Provide well performance analysis including production profiles and forecasts
- Provide input into production optimization e.g. debottlenecking and sensitivity analysis
- Provide reserve/resource estimates, including for incremental opportunities, as required
- Provide input into the design and evaluation of Field Development Plans (FDPs)
- Provide input into drilling and completion planning including well data acquisition programmes
- Post-well production evaluations and monitoring activities
- Provide input into decommissioning activities
- Provide reservoir engineering support to new business evaluations including economic analysis
- Represent Prax Upstream at meetings with external parties as required e.g. Technical Committee Meetings, workshops, conferences
- Supervise external contractors for specialist studies
- Mentor and develop junior reservoir engineers
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Petroleum or Reservoir Engineering
- Extensive experience in the UKCS within an operating oil and gas company including a solid working knowledge of exploration, appraisal, development and production activities
- Skilled hands-on practitioner in building, history matching and using dynamic models for production forecasting
- Demonstrate commitment to SHEQ
- Fluent written and spoken English
Must be proficient in the following:
- Providing input to Reservoir Engineering elements of field development plans
- Running Eclipse/TNAV or equivalent simulation modelling tools
- Performing reservoir engineering risk and uncertainty analysis
- Providing reserves and resource estimates within a recognised international framework e.g. PRMS
- Using analytical software techniques including knowledge of well testing tools (e.g. Saphir) and material balance tools (e.g. MBAL)
Highly motivated with excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal skills:
- Ability to communicate complex information to technical and non-technical audiences
- Excellent level of written and presentation skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and perform effectively under pressure
- Ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team environment
