POSITION: Compliance Advisory Manager – 12 Months FTC

About them:
The Advisory team seeks to safeguard and empower the rest of the business to deliver its strategy and operate its functions compliantly and in a risk-focused way. This is achieved by building and nurturing stakeholder relationships and providing accurate, timely and robust regulatory advice and support.
It is a busy and dynamic team that covers all aspects of conduct regulation for 3 regulated firms, a claims handling company, and 3 Appointed Representatives, so their day-to-day work is varied and interesting with no day being the same!
Reporting to the Head of Conduct Risk, you will work as a senior Compliance Advisory Business Partner, working closely with business stakeholders on typically more complex or sensitive compliance work. You will also line manage a Conduct Risk Business Partner, providing ongoing coaching, support, and best practices to ensure high-class service delivery in the conduct risk space.
They work flexibly, which means their colleagues have autonomy over where they work— at home or in a hybrid setting. This role has a small hybrid element, which means that their team comes together when they need to collaborate.
Role Responsibility:
Working as one of their Compliance Advisory Managers, you will be responsible for Insurance Compliance, including managing and prioritising team activities, performance metrics, and engagement initiatives to ensure peak productivity and morale.
Other accountabilities will include:
- Building and managing effective relationships with key business stakeholders, including senior executives and external partners
- Guiding the business in identifying and managing compliance risks, including implementation of appropriate controls
- The provision of business-focussed advice and recommendations on all relevant areas of regulation
- Fostering strong regulatory relationships including timely, accurate regulatory reporting
- Acting as a centre of excellence in all aspects of regulatory compliance, developing and providing training
- Maintaining an effective horizon scanning framework to keep the business fully informed on regulatory and legislative initiatives
- Providing regulatory insight into change work, led by the first line
- Serve as a mentor to colleagues within the team and wider risk function
- Maintaining the highest level of integrity and confidentiality
- Deputise for the Head of Conduct Risk if and when required
The Ideal Candidate:
You will be seen as an expert compliance and have already worked in the Insurance Industry for some time. Ideally you would hold a relevant professional qualification or CII certificate.
You can demonstrate the following skills and experiences;
- A sound knowledge of FCA (and ideally Gibraltar) regulatory requirements and key conduct related priorities within insurance.
- The ability to manage and develop high performing staff
- Can independently manage a portfolio of work and balance the demands of maintaining high quality work and delivering to deadlines.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to take complex issues and communicate them in a simple easily understood way
- Have a methodical, analytical, enquiring mind and tenacity, while maintaining objectivity
- Quickly gets to grips with understanding unfamiliar businesses, process or products. Able to logically analyse and assess them.
- Can challenge and raise your point of view across to senior individuals and can defend it constructively.
- Always able to exercises strong judgement, identifying key issues and suggesting appropriate solutions for them.
- Fully understands the concepts of risk, controls and materiality and can be proportionate when making decisions.
