Job Description

We are a leading innovator in and fibre technologies , dedicated to advancing chemical solutions for recycling colours from textile waste and enhancing the efficiency of fabric recycling. Our vision is to foster a future of environmentally conscious textiles , driven by circular processes and transparent supply chains at every stage of manufacturing. Currently, we are engaged in process scale-up and testing projects with key partners across the supply chain.

To support our growth, we are seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer / Process Engineer to lead the development and scale-up of our chemical dye recycling technology and contribute to polymer processing innovations such as PET pellet production and process optimization .

Process Engineer – Chemical Recycling & Polymer Processing

Location: London

Salary: £DoE + Company Benefits

Key Responsibilities:

  • Polymer Characterization & Processing – Develop and optimize polymer recycling and processing techniques, including PET pellet production.
  • Process Development & Optimization – Improve manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and sustainability.
  • Experimental Design & Execution – Design, execute, and analyze experiments using pressure reactors and packed bed reactors .
  • Scale-Up & Pilot Studies – Lead pilot projects and scale-up studies at various locations, supporting commercial manufacturing readiness.
  • Reactor Design & Engineering – Select, set up, and optimize reactors, considering mass/energy balances, thermodynamics, and computational modeling (CAD, ASPEN, etc. ).
  • Equipment Operation & Maintenance – Modify and enhance reactor hardware; operate and maintain process equipment (bio-analyzers, centrifuges, bioreactors, autoclaves, etc. ).
  • Technical Documentation & Reporting – Author tech transfer documents, SOPs, Batch Production Records, and other R&D documentation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Effectively communicate findings and insights across R&D and production teams.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • PhD (or Bachelor’s/Master’s with significant experience) in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field .
  • Hands-on experience from bench scale (up to 1L) to pilot scale .
  • Expertise in polymer processing , conservation of mass and energy principles , and process modelling .

Nice to Have:

  • 3+ years of industry experience in process development and scale-up.
  • Experience in commercial-scale manufacturing .
  • Knowledge of immobilized enzyme reactors, packed bed reactors, or large-scale fermenters .
  • Experience with pressure vessels and bioreactor scale-up .
  • Proficiency in process simulation software (CAD, ASPEN, techno-economic analysis, LCA, JMP, R, Python).
