The role: due to a period of exciting and continued growth, we are seeking an Assistant Manager – Reinsurance Operations for this fast-growing, dynamic, and highly collaborative team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a small team of professionals and technicians and for an extremely broad and technical operational role, responsible for all ceded post-bind activities. They will assume responsibility for an agreed set of processes for a defined ceded external portfolio and internal cessions written across various platforms, supporting other portfolios as required in this fast-paced global role. There is the opportunity for Bermuda business trips a few times per year.
In this broad and technical operational leadership role, you will ensure compliance with contractual terms, analyzing and processing all aspects of ceded reinsurance contracts and collateral agreements, whilst working closely with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of the processing of all aspects of ceded reinsurance contracts and collateral agreements, including leading more complex technical areas.
You will also participate in and lead global and special projects, identify opportunities for ongoing refinement and enhancement of the SOX 404 control environment, process improvement, and system enhancement, and propose and implement solutions to improve the efficiency of the global functional area, ensuring that all global operational and financial needs are met.
Role requirements:
- Previous experience of managing a team in insurance or reinsurance operations or high volume processing staff.
- Experience in improvements of processes, systems, products, or solutions to enhance performance of the department or job area.
- A university degree (emphasis on business, insurance, or finance/accounting is advantageous) or comparable reinsurance experience is essential.
- Ideally CII, ACII qualified.
- Fully proficient, with in-depth knowledge, capable of working independently on moderate to high complex matters.
- Utilizes solid technical competence to achieve exemplary results and to manage and resolve issues.
- Conveys points of view/positions in a way that influences opinions and demonstrates flexibility in adapting personal style to different individuals.
