Job Description
Lockheed Martin is looking for an experienced Assembly Technician to join our team on an initial 17 Month FTC (Fixed Term Contract) .
We are seeking a competent Technician capable of electrical and mechanical assembly and integration of complex systems working from drawings and engineering instruction.
This exciting opportunity is based from our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Ampthill, Bedfordshire and benefits from a 4 Day Working Week (Mon – Thu) .
You’ll be working to strict specifications, procedures, schematics and engineering drawings on projects critical to the MOD.

The successful candidate must achieve the appropriate level (SC) of security clearance.
Required skills, qualifications and experience:
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Assembly Technician, Armoured Vehicle Technician / Aircraft Assembly Technician, Mechanical Fitter or similar role.
- Competent Technician capable of electrical and mechanical assembly and integration of complex systems working from drawings and engineering instruction.
- Competent and safe use of all hand and air tools. Use of jigs, fixtures and measuring tools on precision assemblies.
- Ability to complete setups and perform quality and performance testing.
- Ability to work from written instructions with limited supervision.
- Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment with high accuracy.
- Ability to liaise with the test support, engineering and Quality functions.
- Attention to detail and ability to self-inspect work to ensure quality defects are mitigated.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Understanding of “clean as you go”/6S/FOD/Tool control programs mandatory.
- Experienced with quality inspection points and process documentation.
- A very high level of health and safety awareness.
- Must be able to take direction well and is a strong team player.
- Extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of perfection.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills.
