About the Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a handsâon role in operating and improving Zipline's cloud infrastructure, CI/CD systems, and production reliability. You will own well defined infrastructure and reliability responsibilities endâtoâend, while collaborating closely with application engineers to embed DevOps and SRE best practices throughout the development lifecycle. This role blends cloud operations, infrastructure development, and reliability engineering, with meaningful onâcall ownership and clear opportunities to grow into deeper system ownership over time.
What You'll Do
- Partner with product and platform engineering teams to improve system reliability, scalability, and developer experience.
- Build, maintain, and evolve CI/CD pipelines to support safe, fast, and reliable deployments.
- Improve observability through better monitoring, alerting, logging, and telemetry.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to manage cloud resources safely and reproducibly.
- Operate and scale containerized workloads (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Support and evolve Zipline's AWSâbased cloud infrastructure (experience with GCP or Azure is a plus).
- Assist our Data team in codifying and maintaining our data warehouse and ML infrastructure on GCP.
- Participate in an onâcall rotation, responding to and resolving production incidents.
- Contribute to incident followâups and postmortems by helping implement durable fixes and reducing operational toil.
- Collaborate with Railsâfocused product teams to improve reliability, performance, and deployment workflows.
What We Look For
- Production experience operating and supporting cloudâbased systems.
- Proficiency with at least one programming or scripting language (Ruby preferred; TypeScript/JavaScript a plus).
- Experience working with a major cloud provider (AWS preferred).
- Handsâon experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar).
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS).
- Working knowledge of observability practices and tools (Datadog, Sentry, Prometheus, etc.).
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, serviceâoriented mindset.
- Comfort working as a remote contributorâmanaging time, communicating clearly, and delivering reliably.
- Pride in building systems and tooling that are maintainable, wellâdocumented, and easy for others to use.

At Zipline, we're committed to paying our team fairly, transparently, and in a way that supports growth. This role is targeting an annual salary within the United Kingdom of ÂŁ75,200 GBP to ÂŁ91,911 GBP. The broad salary ranges reflect the growth someone will experience in the roleâfrom developing skills to reaching expertise within their career level.
