Job Description
Join Zing, a reputable company with over 20 years of expertise in commercial cleaning across London. We are rapidly expanding and are in search of an organised and detail-oriented working Cleaning Supervisor who will oversee a cleaning team at a school in Sutton.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will ensure that all areas of the school, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and hygiene. This role is vital in providing a safe and clean environment for students, staff, and visitors, while managing a team of cleaning staff and ensuring compliance with school and company policies.
Working time:Monday to Friday, 6.30am – 8.30am (10 hours per week) with the option to work additional afternoon hours
Salary:
- Monday to Friday:£15.56 per hour (Pro rata payment based on 49.51 weeks per year)
DBS Required– We will assist with the procedure
Valued experience and skills
- MUSTspeak English.
- MUSThave a clean DBS records (we will assist with the procedure).
- Proven experience in a cleaning or housekeeping role, ideally within a school or educational setting.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a similar role.
- Familiarity with safeguarding practices in a school environment.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including safe handling of chemicals and cleaning equipment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a team and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with school staff.
- Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks.
- Flexible availability to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required and to provide cover services as required.
Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise, train, and manage the cleaning team to ensure all areas of the school are clean and well-maintained.
- Ensure adequate coverage throughout the school day and after hours.
- Lead by example, assisting with cleaning tasks as needed.
- Overseeing cleaners' performance and behaviour, and ensuring they adhere to company values, procedures and policies.

Cleaning:

- Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas daily.
- Carry out deep cleaning activities.
- Carry out routine cleaning activities such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing surfaces, and emptying trash bins.
- Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust surfaces regularly.
- Replenish bathroom supplies (toilet paper, soap, etc.).
- Clean windows, desks, and furniture as needed.

Quality Assurance:

- Conduct regular inspections of classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, offices, and other areas to ensure cleaning meets high standards.
- Address any specific cleaning requests or urgent concerns from school staff or administration.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment.

Health & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, especially in relation to the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Maintain a hygienic and safe environment, with special attention to high-traffic areas, restrooms, and food service areas.
- Enforce procedures related to hygiene.

Inventory & Supplies Management:
- Monitor and manage the inventory of cleaning supplies, ensuring stocks are maintained at appropriate levels.
- Order cleaning supplies and equipment as necessary.
- Ensure safe storage of all chemicals and cleaning supplies in line with health and safety regulations (e.g., COSHH).

Communication & Coordination:
- Liaise with the Area Manager or other appropriate contacts as informed by the Area Manager to coordinate cleaning schedules around school activities and special events.
- Handle any cleaning-related inquiries or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Report any maintenance or repair to the Area Manager.
