Who we are: Zilch is a payment tech company on a mission to create the most empowering way to pay for anything, anywhere. Combining the best of debit, credit and savings, we give our customers the option to earn instant cashback or spread the cost of pricier purchases, completely interest free and with no late fees. We started in 2018 with a small team and a big dream - to make credit accessible to all. Since then, we've achieved double unicorn status and taken on more than 5 million customers. There are some exciting projects coming up and we’ve got big growth plans.

About the Role: You will be embedded into a Product team, offering strategic analytics and meaningful insights to influence the development roadmap and enable self-serve data-driven decision making. At Zilch, you will learn to understand our customers better than anybody. You will use this to help enable the business to build the best products possible for our customers by proposing great ideas, sizing risks, measuring impact. This role reports into the Lead Product Analyst alongside two other analysts in the Spend domain. Being a unicorn startup, we work rapidly and flexibly. Expect to work with various business stakeholders and solve various different problems. This is not a reporting role. You'll sit alongside Product Managers as their analytical counterpart, spotting things they don't, challenging assumptions with evidence, and sharing your own ideas and insights to drive the team forward. The opportunity to make an impact here is immediate. This domain hinges on understanding user behaviour, the ability to contextualise the value proposition and thinking along product lines, to enable users to build new financial products and optimise our existing suite.

Growth & Support: Your manager is there to support you and mentor you, taking an active role in helping you shape your career path and trajectory.

Day to day responsibilities:

  • Be the analytical partner to Product
  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder with PMs as their thought partner: helping frame problems, pressure-test hypotheses, and make better decisions faster.
  • Proactively investigate the "why" behind metric movements, customer behaviour shifts, and product performance and be passionate about sharing your discoveries with the team.
  • Be a strong communicator, translating complex analysis into clear, opinionated recommendations.
  • Dig into the data and drill down to the transaction level. Understand our users intimately and recognise edge cases.
  • Have a view on the bigger picture and be strategic; identify low hanging fruit, be it growing GMV or improving unit economics.
  • Own your domain by making data tangible to your stakeholders, making ambiguous and poorly defined problems clear and solvable, and demonstrate Ownership.
  • Share your findings effectively to non- and technical stakeholders alike, by tailoring your communication to your audiences.
  • Design and run experiments.
  • Establish incrementally, especially when randomisation isn't feasible, and attributing changes in performance to successive product changes.
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure clean event instrumentation and experiment infrastructure for the Spend domain.

What We're Looking For:

  • Ideally, 3–5 years' experience in product analytics, payments analytics, marketplace analytics, or a closely adjacent quantitative role.
  • Genuine curiosity. You notice outliers and patterns and must understand them. You generate insight and want to be a strategic partner.
  • Strong SQL and data manipulation skills.
  • Reliable experimentation skills; design clean tests, reason about statistical power and validity, handle edge cases, and present results with appropriate caveats.
  • Strong product instincts. You think in terms of customer behaviour and business outcomes, not just data tables.
  • Clear communication; distil complex findings into crisp, opinionated narratives for engineering, product, commercial, and exec audiences.
  • Comfort with ambiguity. You build analytical foundations in an evolving domain, with consideration for scalability in the future.

Strong advantage:

  • Experience in payments, fintech, or financial services.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for statistical analysis, data manipulation, or modelling.
  • Experience with modern analytics engineering tooling.
  • Familiarity with unit economics, margin analysis, or P&L-level thinking in a transactional business.

What You'll Get:

  • Ownership within high-impact, high-volume domain; the products you work on will be experienced by millions.
  • Strategic partnership. You'll be embedded with PMs as their equal.
  • Support and mentorship; your manager will invest in your professional growth.
  • Clear growth trajectory. Your work directly drives impact.
  • Modern stack: Snowflake, dbt, Looker, LaunchDarkly, Mixpanel, Python.

Benefits:

  • Pension scheme.
  • Death in Service scheme.
  • Income Protection.
  • Permanent employees enjoy access to our Share Options Scheme.
  • 5% back on in-app purchases.
  • £200 for WFH Setup.
  • Private Medical Insurance including GP consultations.
  • Mental health support.
  • Employee Assistance Programme including unlimited mental health sessions.
  • Gym membership discounts.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave.
  • Professional Qualifications and Memberships.
  • Hybrid working: office-based Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; remote working Tuesday and Friday.
  • Casual dress code.
  • Workplace socials.
