About the team: The Strategic Finance team’s core mission is to help Zilch make effective decisions, with the aim of building long term customer and company value. We achieve this by steering the company strategy through understanding and sharing the drivers of our business, all while managing risks and keeping an eye out for opportunities. We work with teams across the business to answer key questions that are often ambiguous in nature.
Day to day responsibilities:
- Own the commercial oversight of Acquisitions & Growth, ensuring efficient deployment of a significant annual marketing budget through rigorous CAC, payback, and incrementality analysis.
- Act as a senior commercial partner to the Growth and Product teams, to optimise customer lifecycle behaviour through challenging our strategy on pricing, paid incentives, and channel mix with a value-led lens.
- Size, prioritise, and evaluate acquisition initiatives and experiments, focusing on GP impact, unit economics, and speed to value.
- Drive faster execution of high-impact opportunities, ensuring commercially positive initiatives are identified early and pushed through to delivery.
- Support and guide the analytics teams in the area with experimentation and delivery of actionable insight.
- Grapple with trade-offs across the business, helping to guide effective use of capital.
We’re looking for:
- Experience in strategy, finance, consulting, or commercial roles, with direct exposure to acquisitions and growth in a startup or scale-up environment.
- A curious, first-principles problem solver who enjoys tackling ambiguous, high-impact commercial questions.
- Proven ability to operate at pace in a fast-growing business, balancing speed with analytical rigour.
- Strong commercial judgement, including experience evaluating trade-offs and guiding effective allocation of capital.
- An excellent communicator, able to synthesise complex analysis into clear, compelling recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or Finance/Economics fields.
- Advanced complex financial modelling and data querying skills (experience with SQL and/or BI tools such as Looker would be an advantage, but not mandatory).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities in the face of ambiguity.
- Experience influencing stakeholders at senior levels.
- Ideally 6+ years of relevant experience in a strategic, growth or commercial role.
