The Role / Responsibilities

ZigZag is expanding! After a decade of success in the UK, we are expanding our UK based Sales team with the addition of a new Business Development Executive. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an ambitious and high‑performing Business Development Executive to be at the forefront of our continued growth as we go into 2026 with the launch of our new returns portal and other exciting customer propositions. We are looking for someone with strong sales instinct to help us hit the ground running. If you thrive in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment and want to build something from the ground up, this is the role for you. An already high performing salesperson looking for a new challenge. Ambitious, energetic, and keen to get stuck in, you will be responsible for seeking new business opportunities and delivering profitable growth. Your efforts will be focused on researching prospects, outreach, qualifying opportunities, response to tenders and closing deals. You have the chance to work in close collaboration with the rest of the organisation, to expand our business to the next level.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and drive new business through understanding and influencing prospects’ needs, tailored sales pitches, presentations, and value propositions.
  • Create your own business plan within identified markets to approach targets in an organised and focused manner.
  • Understand the customer‘s business strategy, opportunities and issues.
  • Successfully execute sales and relationship strategies and tactics.
  • Represent and convey customer needs internally and ensure adequate priorities.
  • Proactively build and generate a new business pipeline, converting suspects to prospects, prospects to opportunities and opportunities to clients.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure a smooth implementation process.
  • Report as required to the Commercial Director, to provide updates on activity.
  • Meet or exceed all targets assigned.
  • Gather and communicate market/competitor information.
  • Create new relationships through networking; online and offline.
  • Attend industry events, awards and conferences where required/appropriate.
  • Support the Marketing and Sales Development team on outbound strategies and lead generating efforts.
  • Completing and tracking sales tasks & deals accurately using CRM system.
  • Reporting on sales metrics and suggesting improvements.
  • Maintaining extensive knowledge of our products and how they serve our clients’ needs, including features, advantages, benefits and key examples of usage.
  • Passionately represent our organizational culture, values and our exceptional reputation.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Proven track record in solution selling and achieving financial targets.
  • B2B Sales experience.
  • Strong lead generation skills.
  • Experience of working the sales cycle from start to finish.
  • Excellent prospecting skills with ability to identify and engage prospects at all levels.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial setting.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet prospects and attend industry events.

  • Industry experience in SaaS, ecommerce or logistics.
