You will join the Quality Management team, a collaborative group of 13 colleagues supporting high‑quality new product introductions and working closely with NPI, Plant Quality, Manufacturing, and customer and supplier representatives. The portfolio includes JLR and BMW control arms, with this role being the only position dedicated to Warranty & Test, offering broad visibility. In this dual‑role position, you will provide warranty, testing, and reliability engineering support across Quality, NPI, and Change Management, while leading Metrology and gauge calibration activities. The role is key to ensuring timely product testing and release, effective non‑conformance management, and preparation of APQP and PPAP documentation in direct coordination with customers.
Responsibilities
- Monitor compliance of product testing with control plans, quality plans, and customer requirements, ensuring full test traceability.
- Develop and maintain laboratory, testing, and calibration procedures in line with quality standards, customer, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Execute and analyze functional, durability, and environmental testing to agreed specifications.
- Support the organization and procurement of test fixtures and manage external testing resources.
- Analyze test results as well as warranty, field, and engineering units.
- Manage customer portals for warranty analysis and reporting.
- Create technical reports using company PDM systems and procedures.
- Participate in project reviews and support ongoing capability development of test and measurement departments.
- Lead the gauge calibration function.
Qualifications
- HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering science discipline.
- Automotive industry experience with strong knowledge of test processes and strong understanding of ZF DRL products and manufacturing processes.
- Hands‑on test engineering expertise, including set‑up, programming, and operation of PC‑based test rigs, servo‑hydraulic and electro‑mechanical systems.
- Practical mechanical skills to support test rig fitting, maintenance, and modification.
- Strong PC literacy for data collection, analysis, and reporting (e.g. Microsoft tools, Instron, Stiegle systems).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in quality tools (e.g. process and gauge capability, 8D).
- Proven ability to manage technical teams and support team development.
