You will join the Quality Management team, a collaborative group of 13 colleagues with strong product and process expertise, supporting high quality new product introductions. The team works closely with NPI teams, Plant Quality, and Manufacturing, and interfaces regularly with customer and supplier representatives. The current portfolio includes JLR and BMW control arms, with this role being the only position dedicated to APQP, offering a broad and visible scope.

Daily work includes regular project alignment with the Head of Quality, structured review of supplier documentation, and preparation of APQP and PPAP documentation in direct coordination with customers. The purpose of this position is to drive effective and efficient quality planning for new projects, ensuring consistent application of APQP and project management practices. The role actively supports the GDPEP process, including participation in gate reviews, GDPEP meetings, and pre launch builds. A key objective is to enable a successful and safe product launch, while driving timely supplier PPAP submissions and approvals.

What you can look forward to as Quality Engineer - APQP:

  • Lead new projects and engineering changes implementation at the production shopfloor
  • Act as an interface between the customer and the corporate R&D team to meet organizational and customer requirements
  • Ensure successful completion of the PPAP process to obtain customer approval and monitor compliance of product testing during the GDPEP phases (e.g. CV, PV)
  • Ensure suppliers are approved and meet APQP and PPAP requirements according to QD83
  • Monitor project planning and implementation activities during launches (e.g. run @ rate, line walks, pre production runs, layout inspections)
  • Facilitate PFMEA reviews within the project team, ensuring PFMEA is meaningful and incorporates lessons learned from similar processes and previous projects
  • Raise sub supplier concerns and follow up supplier responses to ensure timely close out
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as deemed necessary in accordance with agreed procedures

Your profile as Quality Engineer - APQP:

  • Minimum HND in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in Tier 1 Automotive supply chain
  • Understanding and application of Quality Tools and Techniques (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC)
  • Deep understanding of problem-solving Techniques (8D/PPS/DMAIC)
  • Structured, organised and self-motivated team player
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Minitab; SAP Knowledge (QM module)
  • Willingness to travel on company business for short periods as necessary
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations and resolve conflict quickly
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
