Join a specialised UK & Ireland Compensation & Benefits team made up of subject matter experts who work closely with Site HR teams, HR Operations, Payroll and Pension stakeholders to deliver an excellent employee experience. As the customer-facing member of the team, you will be the main point of contact for employees and HR Operations, providing support and guidance on a wide range of benefit-related matters. This role plays a key part in the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programmes, ensuring accurate processing, data integrity and compliance with UK legislation and company policies. You will work in a highly collaborative environment, partnering closely with the business rather than operating as a standalone support function. The team offers the opportunity to develop deep expertise in benefits while building strong stakeholder relationships and driving continuous improvement across benefit processes and employee services.

Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits programmes via the Mercer Darwin flexible benefits platform, including pension schemes, life assurance, healthcare plans and salary sacrifice schemes, ensuring accurate processing of enrolments and changes, maintenance of benefit records, provider reconciliations and payroll-related benefit updates.

Employee Support: Act as the first point of contact for employee benefit enquiries, providing guidance on benefit plans, eligibility, enrolment processes and benefit options, supporting annual enrolment and life event changes, and escalating complex issues where appropriate.

Compliance & Governance: Ensure benefits administration activities comply with UK & Ireland legislation including pension auto-enrolment and data protection requirements, supporting audits, maintaining confidentiality of employee information, and adhering to established procedures and controls.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Liaise with benefits providers, brokers, payroll teams, HR colleagues and other stakeholders to resolve issues, support smooth service delivery, monitor provider performance, and assist with benefits communications and employee engagement activities.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Prepare regular reports on benefits participation and administration metrics, identify opportunities to improve processes, data quality and employee experience, and support benefits projects, system implementations and annual renewals.

Your profile as Benefits Coordinator:

  • Previous experience in HR administration, benefits administration, payroll administration, or a related role.
  • Strong administrative, organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with HRIS, benefits platforms and/or payroll systems.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft 365 and other workplace technologies, with a willingness to learn and apply AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, process efficiency and employee service outcomes.
  • Knowledge of UK employee benefits, pensions, auto-enrolment requirements, payroll processes and salary sacrifice arrangements; experience with flexible benefits platforms (ideally Mercer Darwin) and within a Shared Services or HR Operations environment is advantageous.
  • Customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on data accuracy, combined with a high level of confidentiality and integrity, strong analytical thinking, commercial awareness, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
