Overview

We are seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the effective planning, coordination, and delivery of geophysical survey projects. This role is ideal for someone with project experience who is looking to develop their career toward a full Project Manager position. You will work closely with the Geophysical Services Manager and wider technical teams, gaining exposure across all stages of project delivery, from mobilisation and field operations to data processing, client liaison, and commercial controls.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same, with opportunities for occasional site-based work in the UK and overseas.

Responsibilities

You will facilitate delivery of geophysical survey projects from end to end, developing a clear understanding of project proposals, technical specifications, and contracted scopes of work. You will help build and maintain project programmes, track budgets and schedules, identify risks, and support regular project meetings. Clear communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams will form a key part of the role, along with contributing to post-project reviews and communicating progress updates to the Geophysical Services Manager.

Working closely with field teams, you will support advance planning of surveys, including resource coordination, logistics, and equipment requirements. You will help supervise field operations to ensure works are delivered safely and in line with project plans, monitoring data quality and escalating any issues. You will also support the resolution of technical or equipment challenges during surveys.

You will work with the Geo team to assist in tracking data processing against milestones, ensuring deliverables such as reports, drawings, and datasets undergo quality checks before being issued to clients. You will also act as a day-to-day contact for allocated projects, preparing client updates, assisting with enquiries, and helping draft proposals, quotations, and follow-up activities.

SHEQ responsibilities include assisting with health, safety, and environmental controls, preparing and reviewing RAMS, and liaising with the SHEQ team to ensure all surveys meet required safety standards.
