Zeteo is an independent media company on a mission to deliver hard-hitting journalism, unfiltered analysis and the bold opinions that corporate media won’t. Founded in 2024 by Mehdi Hasan after his departure from MSNBC, Zeteo has grown into one of the fastest-rising outlets in independent media. We believe journalism should speak truth to power, without fear or favour. We’re reader-funded first, which means our editorial independence is total — and our relationship with our audience is everything.

As we expand our presence in the UK, we’re looking for a talented and versatile Social Video Editor/Producer to help bring Zeteo UK’s journalism to audiences across social platforms.

The Role

Zeteo UK is seeking a part-time Social Video Editor/Producer based in London to support the growth of our UK social media and video presence during our launch phase. This role is expected to average approximately 20 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours as Zeteo UK’s editorial and production output expands. You’ll work closely with Zeteo UK’s producers, presenters and reporters to transform original reporting, interviews, podcasts and video productions into engaging social and video content.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating social graphics, editing short-form clips, producing promotional assets, filming short videos and supporting the editing of longer-form interviews, podcasts and programmes.
  • Reacting to news or viral moments by creating or adapting content.
  • Identifying compelling moments from interviews and programmes and transforming them into engaging social content.
  • Ensuring high editorial and production standards across all published content.

Distribution & Audience Growth

  • Helping package and distribute Zeteo UK’s journalism across social platforms.
  • Writing platform-appropriate social copy and promotional text.
  • Contributing ideas for new formats, social storytelling approaches and audience growth opportunities.
  • Monitoring platform performance and trends, using insights to improve future content.

Production Support

  • Capturing video and photos on location when required.
  • Filming (or assisting filming) interviews, live events and field reporting.
  • Supporting coverage during major editorial moments and breaking news events.
  • Working closely with the rest of the Zeteo UK team to ensure content is delivered on schedule.

Who You Are

  • An experienced social media editor, video editor, producer or content creator with strong editing/filming skills and an eye for detail.
  • Comfortable creating social-first content in a fast-paced news environment.
  • Skilled at identifying compelling moments from longer-form interviews, podcasts and videos.
  • Strong visual storyteller with excellent attention to detail and editorial judgement.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Passionate about journalism, current affairs and independent media.
  • Familiar with major social platforms and how audiences consume news across them.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with a small team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in social media, digital publishing, journalism, video production or content creation.
  • Strong video editing skills using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut or similar software.
  • Experience creating graphics using Photoshop, Canva, Figma or similar tools.
  • Experience filming with professional or prosumer camera equipment.
  • Familiarity with UK politics, current affairs and news media.
  • Experience working in a newsroom, media company, production company, digital publisher or creator-led media business is a plus.

Why Zeteo

  • Genuine editorial independence — we answer to our readers, not advertisers or corporate owners.
  • Opportunity to help build Zeteo UK’s social and video presence from the ground up.
  • Work directly with an ambitious, fast-growing team producing impactful journalism.
  • Flexible part-time role with potential to expand as Zeteo UK grows.
  • Mission that matters — helping independent journalism reach and engage new audiences.
