About the Role
ZETEC Recruitment are working with a well-established business looking to recruit an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their busy workshop team. This is a hands-on role, primarily workshop based, maintaining and repairing a large fleet of HGVs, trailers, specialist vehicles and associated equipment. There may also be occasional travel to other depot locations, as well as breakdown and repair call-outs when required. You will report directly to the Workshop Manager and play an important role in keeping the fleet operational, compliant, safe and roadworthy.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently
- Prepare vehicles for MOT and support DVSA compliance
- Complete inspections and safety checks
- Attend occasional breakdown call-outs when required
- Travel to other depot locations when needed
- Maintain accurate workshop records and defect reports
- Work closely with the Workshop Manager
- Ensure all work is completed safely and to company standards
The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- Minimum of 3 years experience as an HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Mechanic or Workshop Technician
- Full UK driving licence
- Good diagnostic and repair skills
- A reliable, hands-on approach to work
Desirable:
- Welding and fabrication experience
- HGV Category C licence
- Gas certification
