ZETEC Recruitment are working with an established highways contractor to recruit Highways Operatives to support ongoing work across the region. This is a hands-on role working on highways, roads and site-based projects. The position would suit someone with previous experience in highways maintenance, surfacing, traffic management, construction or a similar outdoor working environment. The role offers good earning potential through overtime, travel time and additional payments, along with opportunities for training and progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out highways-related work across a range of sites
  • Support surfacing, surface treatment and general highways activity where required
  • Assist with the installation of road safety products, road marking, pothole repair and general highways maintenance
  • Prepare work areas and help ensure jobs are completed safely and efficiently
  • Follow site instructions, method statements and health and safety procedures
  • Assist with traffic management, site set-up and road closures when required
  • Operate tools, machinery and equipment safely
  • Work as part of a team to complete projects to a good standard
  • Travel to different sites as required

About You

  • Previous experience in highways, surfacing, traffic management, road marking installation, pothole repair, construction or a similar environment would be beneficial
  • Experience using highways machinery or site equipment would be an advantage
  • Full UK manual driving licence is required
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including overtime and weekends when required
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a physically demanding role
  • Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work well as part of a team
  • Willing to travel to different sites depending on project requirements
