We are momentarily hiring a professional Senior Urban Designer to join the team of a leading residential projects studio based in London. With over 50 years producing some of the UK’s finest residential developments and mixed‐use communities, our client prides itself on bringing together a strong and enthusiastic team of professionals. This role demands confidence across all aspects of urban design and masterplanning. To become a key member of this bustling, proactive studio, you must feel confident in the responsibility to produce drawings in preparation for projects. Handle detailed design guidance for the team. Coordinate development briefs and character assessments, all whilst punctually meeting deadlines. As a key player you will be expected to mentor junior members and will take on increasing responsibilities in design and project processes over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality drawings in support of projects.
  • Carry out competent research, analysis, and assessments to drive strategic planning decisions.
  • Survey sites, programs, regulations, and policies using quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Produce expert development calculations in line with specified standards and proposed controls.
  • Arrange third‐party contractor activities and manage project deliverables punctually.
  • Execute quality assurance and quality control of project documents.
  • Produce and deliver complete planning applications, reports, and appeals.
  • Communicate with local governments, public officials, and stakeholders throughout the planning process.
  • Engage in client and public processes and presentations, demonstrating teamwork and resourcefulness.
  • Offer mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
  • Stay updated on ever‐changing planning regulations, policies, and urban development movements in the UK.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Over 3 years of UK experience in an architectural or urban design practice, focusing on residential and mixed‐use projects.
  • Master's degree in urban design, preferably with an architectural background; other relevant backgrounds considered based on portfolio and experience.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing creative design and graphic skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective teamwork.
  • Confidence in correspondence with clients and stakeholders.
  • Efficient problem‐solving skills.
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD, and/or SketchUp for rendering and visualisation.
  • Excellent hand‐drawing skills.
  • Outstanding time management, with the ability to handle workload around tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn, share knowledge, with a passion for career progression.
