A well-established manufacturing organisation is looking to appoint an Automation & Projects Engineer to support and enhance its control systems across production operations. This role combines hands-on automation support with the delivery of smaller engineering projects, playing a key part in improving reliability, efficiency and long-term site capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical ownership of automated systems across production and packaging areas
- Diagnose faults, update logic and enhance functionality within Siemens PLC and HMI platforms
- Deliver small-to-medium automation and engineering projects from initial concept through to commissioning
- Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to equipment performance, uptime and safety
- Produce and maintain technical documentation including system descriptions, drawings and risk assessments
- Support compliance with health, safety and quality standards across engineering activities
- Coordinate with external service providers and equipment suppliers when required
Candidate Profile
- Formal qualification in automation, controls or electrical engineering ideally to HNC / HND level
- Strong hands-on experience with Siemens PLC programming, modification and fault diagnosis
- Background within a production, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Exposure to food, beverage, pharmaceutical or FMCG manufacturing environments
- Experience with SCADA or process control systems
- Ability to produce or interpret electrical or mechanical CAD drawings
