We're recruiting on behalf of a fast-moving business in the fresh produce sector for a Technologist to join their Technical team - someone who wants real ownership over quality, compliance, and supplier relationships, not just a seat at the table.

Responsibilities

  • Leading on supplier approval and due diligence, including onboarding new suppliers and seasonal reviews, and supporting sign-off on specifications and technical programs.
  • Acting as a point of contact for customers, building strong relationships and keeping the wider business informed of what they need.
  • Investigating the root cause behind complaints and following through with fixes that stick, using data to identify where quality or efficiency could improve.
  • Contributing to new product development from concept through to launch, and keeping specifications and documentation accurate and up to date.
  • Liaising with suppliers and site teams on seasonal, ethical, and environmental matters.
  • Visiting supplier or grower sites periodically to see performance first-hand.
  • Carrying out GMP and food safety audits, managing the sample approval process, and championing strong hygiene and health & safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a technical, quality, or compliance role within fresh produce or food manufacturing.
  • Confidence managing specifications, supplier due diligence, and customer‑facing communication.
  • Familiarity with BRCGS, HACCP, or similar food safety standards.
  • A hands‑on, detail‑focused approach and the flexibility to manage shifting priorities.
  • A natural sense of ownership – comfortable taking responsibility without needing to be chased.
