We are currently recruiting for a Technical Manager on behalf of a rapidly expanding client of ours. As they continue to grow, they need someone at the forefront of their technical team! This is a key site-based position, responsible for leading the technical and quality function while driving food safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across the operation.
The Role
As Technical Manager, you will report directly to the Site Director and take full responsibility for the site's technical and quality agenda. You will lead and develop the technical and quality team, ensuring standards are not only met but consistently improved.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing the site's Technical and Quality team
- Owning and maintaining the site's Food Safety and Quality Management Systems, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and customer standards
- Driving a strong quality culture across the site
- Managing and leading the internal audit programme
- Overseeing food safety standards including BRC and HACCP compliance
- Managing customer queries, complaints, and technical communications
- Overseeing supplier approval and raw material risk assessment processes
- Ensuring the site is audit-ready at all times
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Technical Manager (or similar senior technical leadership) role within food manufacturing
- Strong working knowledge of BRC and HACCP standards
- Experience leading, developing, and motivating technical/quality teams
- A degree in Food Science or a related discipline
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- A forward-thinking, proactive, and driven approach
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
