We are working in partnership with a well-established food manufacturing business to recruit a Technical Manager for a brand-new position within their core technical function. This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape and drive food safety, quality, and technical standards across the site.

The Role

  • As Technical Manager, you will have full responsibility for site food safety, product quality, and quality systems, ensuring compliance with BRC and major retailer standards.
  • You will play a pivotal role within the site leadership team, acting as the technical authority and primary point of contact for customers and retailers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive food safety and product quality standards across the site.
  • Ensure full compliance with BRC, HACCP, and retailer requirements.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for retailers and customers.
  • Manage and investigate customer complaints, ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Lead and host site audits and visits, including BRC and retailer audits.
  • Oversee and continuously improve the supplier approval and monitoring process.
  • Manage, lead, and develop the Technical and Quality team.
  • Own and deliver the internal audit schedule.
  • Contribute as a key member of the site leadership team, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Technical Manager or equivalent senior technical role.
  • Extensive experience with BRC standards and HACCP systems.
  • Strong experience working directly with major retailers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead audits (BRC and retailer).
  • Ability to lead, influence, and develop a technical team.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive high food safety standards.
  • Food Safety and HACCP qualifications.
  • Degree in a relevant food or scientific discipline.

Salary £50,000 - £60,000
