Production Shift Manager

Northamptonshire | £45,000 – £48,000 | Days Shift

Are you a Production or Shift Manager who thrives on making things happen?

The kind of person who walks onto the factory floor and immediately starts looking at what could be better?

Perhaps it’s a production line that isn’t quite running as it should. A team that needs a little more direction. A recurring downtime issue that everyone has become accustomed to. Or simply an opportunity to get more from the people, processes and equipment around you.

If that sounds like you, this could be an opportunity worth exploring.

I’m representing a highly reputable and growing food manufacturing business in Northamptonshire that is looking to strengthen its leadership team with the appointment of a Production Shift Manager.

This is a business with a clear focus on growth, operational performance and developing its people — and this role will play a key part in making that happen.

The Role:

As Production Shift Manager, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day running of production across your shift, leading a team and ensuring the department delivers against its production, quality, waste, cost and safety targets.

But this isn't a role where you'll be managing from behind a desk.

You'll be visible, hands-on and engaged with the operation , working closely with your teams to keep production moving, challenge performance and solve problems as they arise.

You'll start your shift understanding exactly where the operation stands, communicate expectations with your team and use performance data to identify where improvements can be made.

Daily huddles will be an important part of your routine, ensuring everyone understands the priorities, while strong communication with Planning, Engineering, Quality and other departments will help keep the factory running smoothly.

You'll have a broad remit across people, production, performance, quality and continuous improvement, including:

  • Leading, developing and motivating Team Leaders and Operatives across your shift.
  • Ensuring production schedules are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
  • Driving performance against production, waste, cost and quality targets.
  • Maintaining a strong culture of health & safety across the department.
  • Monitoring line performance and challenging underperformance where required.
  • Running daily team huddles and ensuring shift communication is accurate and effective.
  • Working closely with Engineering to address downtime, reliability and equipment performance.
  • Identifying training and development requirements across your team.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Production Manager, Shift Manager, Production Supervisor or similar within manufacturing.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and quality systems.
  • A proven ability to lead, develop and motivate teams.
  • A naturally inquisitive approach to problem solving.

Why this opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a well-established and growing food manufacturing business where you'll have genuine influence over the performance of your area.

You'll be joining a business that understands the importance of its people, its production operation and continuous improvement — giving you the opportunity to make a tangible difference rather than simply manage the status quo.

If you're someone who enjoys being on the factory floor, developing people, solving problems and seeing the results of your work in real time, this could be the next step you've been looking for.
