We are working on behalf of a leading UK food manufacturing business to appoint a Head of Technical for a large, complex manufacturing operation. This is a senior leadership role offering full ownership of the site’s technical agenda, accountability for food safety and quality performance, and a key role within the Senior Leadership Team influencing site strategy and results. The business operates at significant scale, supplying major UK retailers and food service customers, and is recognised for its commitment to technical excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.
The Role
As Head of Technical, you will lead the technical function, ensuring full compliance with BRC, customer, and regulatory standards. Acting as the site’s technical authority, you will represent the business during customer and third-party audits while developing capable and engaged technical and hygiene teams. This role suits a hands-on, credible technical leader who enjoys driving standards, structure, and culture within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and mentor the technical team, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, and hygiene
- Act as the technical lead for customer and third-party audits
- Drive BRC and retailer compliance, working closely with major UK retailers
- Oversee hygiene and process functions, ensuring systems, training, and structures are fit for purpose

You will be an experienced senior technical professional with the presence and confidence to operate at SLT level.
