We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Fire & Security Engineer / Technician to take a key role in delivering high-quality service, maintenance, and small works across our client base in Northern Ireland. This role will involve leading by example on-site, supporting junior engineers, and ensuring works are delivered to the highest technical and compliance standards. The successful candidate will be a fully competent Level 3 Engineer with strong multi-discipline experience and the ability to operate independently while guiding others.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the service, maintenance, and fault finding of:
- Fire alarm systems (conventional & addressable)
- Intruder alarms
- CCTV systems
- Access control systems
- Take ownership of complex faults and ensure timely resolution
- Support and mentor junior and mid-level engineers on-site
- Carry out and oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Assist with small works, upgrades, and minor commissioning
- Ensure all works comply with relevant standards (e.g. BS5839, NSI/SSAIB)
- Complete and review job documentation to a high standard
- Liaise with clients and provide technical guidance and recommendations
- Support supervisors/managers with planning and technical input
- Participate in call-out rota and provide escalation support
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience as a senior/lead Fire & Security Engineer
- Strong multi-discipline capability (fire, intruder, CCTV, access control)
- Advanced fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
- Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience at this level)
- ECS Card (Fire & Security) – required
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
Desirable:
- Experience with leading systems (e.g. Gent, Advanced, Notifier, Paxton, Hikvision, RBH etc.)
- Experience in commissioning or project delivery
- Knowledge of compliance standards and certification processes
Salary & Package
- Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 (depending on experience)
- Overtime: Paid at enhanced rates (time +½ / double time)
- Call-out rota: 1 in 4 – 1 in 6
