Zest Optical are currently recruiting for an Assistant Store Manager to join a modern independent Opticians based in Cambridge. This is a full-time opportunity offering a salary of £31,300, working within a design-led practice focused on delivering a high level of patient care and eyewear styling. The business is part of a growing group of independent Opticians, combining traditional craftsmanship with a fresh, contemporary approach to optics. This role would suit an experienced optical professional looking to take the next step in their career, or an existing Assistant Manager who enjoys leading by example while delivering an outstanding customer experience. Please note, previous optical experience is essential for this role. Applications without relevant experience will not be considered.
Assistant Store Manager - Role
- Support the Store Manager with the day-to-day running of the practice
- Lead, motivate and develop the team to deliver an exceptional customer experience
- Act as a key point of contact on the shop floor, ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the day
- Deliver a high standard of customer service at every stage of the patient journey
- Support patients with frame and lens selection, offering tailored advice based on their needs
- Dispense spectacles accurately and confidently, explaining prescription details clearly
- Carry out adjustments, fittings and minor repairs to ensure the best possible fit
- Help drive commercial performance through excellent service and team engagement
- Maintain high standards of visual merchandising and store presentation
- Support with appointments, administration and operational tasks to ensure the practice runs smoothly
- Take ownership of the practice in the Store Manager's absence when required
Assistant Store Manager - Requirements
- Previous experience working within an optical setting is essential
- Supervisory, Team Leader or management experience within optics
- Confident communicator with the ability to motivate and support others
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Commercially aware with a passion for delivering outstanding customer service
- Positive, proactive approach with a willingness to take initiative
- Interest in premium eyewear and delivering an exceptional patient experience
Salary & Benefits
- Salary of £31,300
- Full-time role, including weekends on a rota basis
- Typical working hours are 9.30am to 6.30pm (11.00am to 5.00pm on Sundays)
