You’ll lead the site P&L, work closely with senior stakeholders, and play a critical role in driving profitability, efficiency and financial control. This isn’t a back‑office reporting position - it’s a hands‑on operational finance role where you’ll be embedded in the site, understanding products, processes, materials, labour and customers inside‑out.

Position type: full time, permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 16:30

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Site Director, operational management teams and the wider finance teams across Zertus UK&I, you’ll:
  • Take full ownership of the Sherburn site’s P&L, bringing clarity, challenge and insight to operational leaders
  • Build strong relationships across Operations, Supply Chain, Technical, NPD and Procurement to support decision‑making
  • Provide clear, commercial business partnering that drives profitability, operational efficiency and value creation
  • Lead all aspects of weekly, monthly and periodic financial reporting for the site
  • “Do the doing” where needed - including site overheads, weekly labour reporting and cost tracking
  • Collate, interpret and communicate financial performance to both the site and group leadership teams
  • Understand products, materials, labour, processes and customers inside‑out, becoming deeply connected to site performance drivers
  • Identify risks, opportunities and improvement actions, ensuring financial disciplines are strong and future‑fit
  • Support the Budgeting, Forecasting and S&OP processes
  • Work as part of the broader operational finance team, sharing best practice and aligning standards
  • Play a key role in shaping how financial insight and rigour is embedded into the Humdinger Sherburn operation

This role reports to the Head of Operational Finance (Zertus Group). It has no direct reports, but carries full responsibility for financial leadership and performance at the Sherburn site.

Qualifications

We’re looking for a high‑calibre finance professional with genuine experience of driving performance inside a fast‑paced FMCG manufacturing site. You’ll need:

  • Strong operational finance experience gained within FMCG or food manufacturing
  • Evidence of partnering with senior stakeholders to influence decision‑making and improve site profitability
  • Hands‑on understanding of manufacturing drivers: materials, yields, labour, overheads, processes, waste, customers
  • Ability to take ownership of a full site P&L and provide clear commercial insight
  • Strong analytical skills and the confidence to challenge constructively
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful actions
  • Comfortable balancing operational detail with strategic perspective
  • CIMA qualification (part or fully qualified) is an advantage - but experience is what matters most

We’re looking for someone who is commercially sharp, resilient, curious, energetic and excited by the opportunity to put their own stamp on a newly shaped role.

Rewards Benefits

  • Competitive, thoroughly benchmarked salary and wider package
  • Annual bonus plan of up to 10% of salary
