As a Test Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development, validation and certification of cutting-edge hydrogen-electric propulsion technologies.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for planning and executing complex test programmes, developing bespoke test rigs, analysing performance data, and supporting the delivery of safe, reliable and certifiable systems.
This is a hands-on role that combines practical engineering, technical problem-solving and rigorous documentation within a fast-paced aerospace environment.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and execute development, verification, validation and certification testing of fuel cell, hydrogen and associated propulsion system components.
- Design, specify and commission test rigs, instrumentation and data acquisition systems to support a range of engineering test activities.
- Take ownership of component and subsystem test programmes, ensuring objectives, schedules and quality requirements are achieved.
- Collaborate with system, design and integration engineers, as well as external suppliers and partners, to define and deliver testing requirements.
- Analyse test data, interpret results and produce clear technical documentation including test procedures, reports and recommendations.
- Support air vehicle integration activities while applying critical thinking and innovative problem-solving to complex engineering challenges.
- Role Requirements
- Experience developing technical documentation, publishing test procedures, analysing engineering data and producing detailed laboratory or test reports.
- Strong understanding of configuration control principles, including the ability to maintain test registers, interpret P&IDs, create BOMs and conduct risk assessments.
- Hands-on experience working with pressurised gas systems, fluid process equipment and fittings such as Swagelok within a laboratory or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of instrumentation, sensors and data acquisition systems, including National Instruments hardware and software (e. g. Lab VIEW) or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with control systems and PLCs, with the ability to support automated testing and system integration activities.
- Understanding of safe working practices within regulated or hazardous environments; Comp Ex certification and experience with HV, ATEX or DSEAR requirements would be advantageous.
