As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of the embedded control systems that power our next-generation hydrogen-electric propulsion technology. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle, from requirements capture and architecture through to implementation, verification, integration, and certification.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced embedded software professional with a strong background in safety-critical systems to contribute to disruptive aerospace technology. You will work on high-integrity software for advanced controller platforms, ensuring compliance with industry standards while helping to drive innovation, reliability, and performance. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in embedded C development, a passion for engineering excellence, and a collaborative approach to solving complex technical challenges in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop embedded software for ZeroAvia's controller platform.
  • Produce requirements, design, implementation, and tests for software components.
  • Ensure software life cycle data produced are in accordance with development processes and procedures.
  • Perform hardware/software integration for debugging, verification, and release of software.
  • Contribute improvements to internal procedure and standards.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related engineering discipline (or equivalent knowledge and experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in software development life cycle, at least 5 years of which within aerospace (DO-178B/C) or other safety-critical domain.
  • Proficiency in embedded C and familiarity with MISRA C standards.
  • Experience in bare-metal programming with microcontrollers.
  • Knowledge of software architecture and/or software testing methods.
  • Perform requirement analysis and flow down to software and detail design.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, UART, SPI, and I²C.
  • Proficiency with requirements management and configuration management tools.
  • Experience of model-based development using MATLAB Simulink.
  • Working knowledge with ARM microcontrollers.
  • Understanding of control systems development.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and ability to read schematics.
  • Experience in certification programmes and in compliance demonstrations.
  • Experience in scripting languages like Python would be an added advantage.
