An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Senior Orthotist to join the in-house Orthotics department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. This role combines both clinical and managerial responsibilities, providing treatment to both inpatients and outpatients across various clinics. The successful candidate will lead the Orthotic provision at the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) while also supporting clinical services at the main NUH sites.
You will be part of a dynamic and innovative team comprising 11 Orthotists, 2 assistants, 6 technicians, and 6 administrators. The department boasts an on-site workshop equipped with a CAD-CAM scanner and milling machine, alongside access to Rodin and iPad scanners. The team is actively involved in collaborating with orthotic companies and the wider Trust to pioneer new methods of patient care.
Lead the Orthotic service at the NRC, ensuring high standards of clinical care, and collaborate with the wider team at the main NUH sites.
Treat a diverse patient group, including those requiring complex orthotic interventions, in both outpatient clinics and inpatient ward settings.
Work within a multidisciplinary environment, including joint clinics for Diabetic Foot, Neurology, Paediatrics, Complex Footwear, and Spinal care.
Contribute to service development, clinical audits, and quality improvement projects within the department and across the therapies and rehabilitation pathways.
Supervise and mentor junior staff, fostering their professional development through regular in-service training, protected CPD time, and involvement in departmental projects.
Participate in the departments service management tasks, including team leadership and the development of new clinical initiatives.

The NRC will be a new, purpose-built 70-bed facility which will be built on the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate near Loughborough, delivering a centre of excellence to improve rehabilitation services in England. It is co-located with the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre and will share some of the world class rehabilitation facilities.
