Come and join our friendly team of Neonatal Nurses at QMC and City Hospital. We are looking to recruit Band 5 nurses that are either NMC registered or student nurses due to complete their studies in the next 6 months. Both adult, children's, and neonatal nurses are welcome to apply at both City and QMC Neonatal Units. With our brand new state‑of‑the‑art dedicated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that opened in December 2024 at QMC, and a new reconfiguration layout at City planned to aid their transition to a Local Neonatal Unit. We offer a professionally registered six‑month foundation course to enhance your CPD, with a dedicated neonatal practice development team to support your learning. The Neonatal Service delivers critical care across two sites, the City and Queen’s Medical Centre Campus. As the lead centre in the East Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (EMNODN) we offer both medical and surgical intensive care for extremely premature and very sick infants. We also have an integrated outreach team in place to support babies and families once they return home.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care ensuring that these are evaluated and amended as appropriate.
  • Document the condition and progress of patients and report to medical staff and/or senior nursing staff any areas of concern.
  • Undertake nursing procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate clinical procedures to registered and unregistered staff as required.
  • Once competent in team management skills, on occasions may take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility or his/her deputy.
  • Participate in the support and implementation of Essence of Care guidelines.
  • Be aware of your role with regard to the Medicines Code of Practice.
  • Comply with all Trust policies with particular regard to the policies and procedures carried out in the event of maintaining staff and patient safety.
  • Liaise with other clinical areas providing appropriate policies, education and clinical expertise in order to facilitate the management of patients with special requirements.
  • Maintain an awareness of the developments in the care and treatment of patients in order to be able to carry out duties competently and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Band 5 nursing qualification.
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or a student nurse due to complete registration within the next 6 months.
  • Ability to carry out direct and indirect patient care without direct supervision.
  • Experience in neonatal, adult or children's nursing is welcome.
