Midlands Neurosurgery Operational Delivery Network Ambassador
Job Summary
2 posts – 18.75 hours. Applicants must be employed with an Acute Trust based in the Midlands (UHB or UHNM) and work within the Neurosurgical Department, also open to applications from AHPs, ACPs. Posts are for 3 months with a 3‑month notice period. Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) is the host provider for the Network team. The post‑holder remains an employee of their employing organisation while undertaking duties in line with relevant policies of the host Trust.
Main duties of the job
- Support the implementation of quality and service improvement initiatives in the Midlands Neurosurgery Network, working with Network Team members, clinicians, and allied health professionals.
- Disseminate network developments and plans to colleagues within the Trust and external stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact for Trust quality and service improvement leads regarding pathway redesign and other network developments.
- Support proactive development and implementation of local and regional QI projects and improvements within Neurosurgery, establishing clear links with key staff and groups.
- Act as a conduit for the network, facilitating communication and collaboration across staff and groups.

Job Description
The individual works with the Neurosurgery Clinical Lead and Operational Manager at their delegated Trust, reporting directly to the Neurosurgery ODN. Key responsibilities include:
- Participate in and support the Network Quality and Service Improvement Group.
- Promote service redesign and change management methodology with GIRFT, Neurosurgery Specification, and NHSE leads.
- Support delivery of training within trusts in conjunction with Network management team members.
- Collate relevant QI data and provide summative reports and presentations for evidence‑based outcomes and business cases.
- Support implementation of the Network work plan, self‑assessment process, QI programme, and other agreed work streams.
- Develop network policies and procedures in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Maximise operational effectiveness and consistency, ensure equitable access to services, improve quality of care and manage patient flows across the network.
- Work with patient groups to improve quality of care and compile patient stories; collaborate with governance teams dealing with serious untoward incidents.
Person Specification
Training and Qualification
- Essential: Educated to Degree/Master’s level of study in a health‑related topic; experienced allied health professional or nurse in Neurosurgery; relevant professional qualification and registration.
- Desirable: Experienced clinical manager and leader.
