Applicants are invited for a substantive Consultant post with responsibilities in Infectious Disease, OPAT and Microbiology at Nottingham University Hospitals. The post is split between Queens Medical Centre (QMC) Campus and the City Campus of Nottingham University Hospital, with a full-time commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the provision of a comprehensive Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases service, including laboratory duties, results authorisation and interpretation, clinical and antibiotic advice, patient consultations, ward rounds and multi-disciplinary team (MDT) involvement.
  • Contribute to antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control, clinical governance, teaching and training, and research.
  • Manage patients admitted under the care of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology services, providing both elective and emergency care in collaboration with consultant colleagues.

Location

The Microbiology Laboratory is based at the QMC Campus; clinical duties are required at both QMC Campus and City Hospital Campus. Infectious Diseases duties are based at City Campus.

Qualifications

All applicants must have accreditation in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology on the GMC Specialist Register, or be within 6 months of their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) date on the interview day.
